French Destroyer Mistral

Mistral – Another of the Bourrasque class. She was active in the English Channel in May 1940, calling at Dunkirk on the 19th May, i.e. prior to the evacuation and participating in the bombardment of German forces encircling Boulogne. However, it is not clear as to whether she actually participated in the Dunkirk evacuation itself. Our research will continue. What is beyond doubt is that she was "captured" by the British at Plymouth on the 3rd July, 1940 and taken into service with the Royal Navy. She was returned to France in 1945.
