Polish army Corporal of the September 1939 campaign. The helmet is the wz.31 model, which is painted in an olive drab 'Salamander' paint. The rough finish was obtained by mixing the paint with small grains of cork. The tunic is the wz.36 in a wool fabric and the gas mask canister slung over the shoulder is the older French RSC type. The canvas wz.32 pack has the wz.31 mess tin strapped to the rear flap and a blanket (typically wrapped around the greatcoat) strapped around the outside in a horseshoe shape. Mauser type leather ammunition pouches, the entrenching tool, wz.24 Radom bayonet and the wz.33 bread bag are worn on the belt.
