HMS Windsor at Boulogne

HMS Windsor – She entered Boulogne under the cover of darkness at 23.00 hours on the 23rd May, 1940. With little interference from German forces, she embarked the Naval demolition parties, BEF stragglers and 4th Coy, 2nd Battalion, Welsh Guards. She returned to Dover with 600 men.

Despite being damaged during the Dunkirk evacuation, she successfully evacuated 3,991 troops. Although she was badly damaged by a mine in December 1940, she survived the war and was one of the destroyers which supported the D-Day landings in 1944.
