Briefed to attack Hornchurch aerodrome in Essex, this aircraft suffered damage from ground defences and fighters. At 2.20pm, the critically damaged bomber force-landed on the beach at Princes Golf Club, Sandwich. The crew of four, who had been wounded in the action, set their aircraft alight before being captured.


The relics recovered from the crash site include a crushed exhaust stub from one of the Bramo 323-P radial engines, a section of cockpit frame, a large piece of airframe and a number of small engine components.


Crew: Pilot – Ofw Willi Lange, Observer – Uffz Fritz Krostopotsch, Radio Operator - Fw Hubert Berndt, Flight Engineer – Fw Hans Wunsch.


The photographs show the burning aircraft and the pilot and another member of his crew being marched off into captivity. In the background is the Princes Golf Club Clubhouse.
