The M1895 Nagant revolver was chambered in 7.62x38R and was the brainchild of the Belgian Léon Nagant. It was a seven-shot gun and was available in two variants; one for enlisted men and the other for officers. The officers' version offered a gas-sealed system (this means that the cylinder moves forward to meet the barrel when cocked) which not only boosted the velocity but allowed for the fitting of a silencer.
Despite the introduction of more advanced semi-automatic handguns in the form of the TT range, the M1895 remained in service throughout World War Two.
