The medical box was issued to all ARP units. They are made of metal, enamelled in black and finished with a red stripe and the letters ARP stencilled on the front. The sides have loops to attach a carry strap and the box is secured by two clips on the front. 
Produced in the thousands, they contained all the equipment which was found in the larger kit as supplied by Maws and Sons for the treatment of the wounded during an air raid.
