Volksgasmaske 37 (VM37)

The Volksgasmaske 37 (VM37) was originally introduced in 1937 for the use of teenagers and was produced by a number of manufacturers. When issued, it was designed to offer protection from all potential gases. The design was a simple one, although it did utilise more rubber than was, under the circumstances, sensible. The standard German civilian filter was used and the wearer would exhale via a simple valve. The lenses were either of plastic or glass. This mask was superseded by the Volksgasmaske 40 (VM40) in 1940, with the VM37 being issued to the Luftwaffe from 1940-1944.

Our example is complete with its instruction leaflet, in its original issue box.
