British Hospital Respirator

Should you be unlucky enough to spend time in hospital during the war, it was not always possible that you would be able to use your own gas mask. In order to provide protection, hospitals installed air-locks. However, there was also the provision of the hospital respirator. It worked in the same way as the babies' gas helmet, i.e. creating a postive-pressure. Depending on the nature of the injuries of the patient, it would either be self-operated or by a member of the hospital staff.

As with all British gas masks, they contain asbestos in the filter and should NOT be worn.
