British Telephone Operators Gas Mask

In the event of an actual gas attack, it was important that the systems could remain in place and indeed operate as near to normal as possible. In order to keep communications working, the standard civil defence  gas mask was adapted to include a microphone and earpiece. This preserved the integrity of the mask's operation, while allowing the wearer to plug directly into a telephone switchboard. As with all British gas masks, the filter contains asbestos and so should NOT be worn.
